Identical twins and fraternal twins are quite common (about 1 in 89 births) and triplets are more rare (about 1 in 8000). Usually, triplets are two identical twins and a third fraternal sibling (from a separate egg). Very rarely will there be three identical triplets that all came from the same egg.
The three newborns are still quite small and recovering in the hospital.
