The moon has always been an important part of human civilization. It was used to create the calendars as a way to mark the passage of time and to schedule important plantings and harvests. Even so, there are many misconceptions about the moon and its effects on the Earth.
Though some people associated the moon with craziness (lunatics) and werewolves, the moon does have important effects on the Earth, including the moon phases, the ocean tides, and both solar and lunar eclipses.
