Hawaii Astronomers Discover Halloween Asteroid
Scientists on the Big Island recently discovered a 1.5 mile wide asteroid hurtling towards Earth. They call it the "Great Pumpkin" because it will be at its closest around 7:05 a.m. on Saturday, October 31st, at a distance of about 300,000 miles. As a reference, the moon is about 239,000 miles away.
