How to Create an Outline

After you've taken notes on each of your articles, it is time to create an outline. An outline is useful in organizing your thoughts and notes in an organized manner. Most outlines use the following format:

An outline is similar to the skeleton (main points) and meat (details) of your paper. It should flow logically from beginning to end, and if you made a good outline, you'll be able to write your rough draft without having to go back to your notes or articles.
